For all of you who want to explore Albania-Montenegro – Kosovo with 4 x 4 vehicles, this is the ideal place to make an off-road adventure. The tour will start from the center of Albania, climbing up high in the Albanian Alps, on-wards to the rural Montenegro, Kosovo and back in Albania. The off- road adventure in these three Balkan Countries will be a unique experience, where often we will feel ourselves far from humanity, interact with local people and learn about the their life, customs; exploring its wild world yet unexplored; visits to numerous churches, temples, of thousands of colors and archaeological sites listed as World Heritage of UNESCO.
Upon arrival we will meet with our guide airport and drive on jeeps towards Shkodra, one of the oldest cities in Europe and arguably the most attractive urban center in Albania. The ancient Rozafa Fortress has stunning views over Lake Shkodra. Overnight and welcome dinner in Hotel.
Behind the castle there is the multi-domed Lead mosque. It is called “Lead” because the rocks used for the building of its walls were joined by melted lead. In proof that Skoder is the center of Catholicism in Albania – there is a perfectly extant Franciscan church Rruga-Ndre-Mjeda.
The Historical museum of Shkoder is in the villa of an Ottoman merchant. Here you can see archeological artefacts and historical photographs that will tell you about different periods of the city’s life. Skoder is very proud of the monument of Mother Teresa – the nun is portrayed with hands crossed on her chest as a symbol of her faith that she carried throughout her life. Albanians are very proud that their country gave the World this Saint person!
Day 2 - Theth
Early morning departure to the National park of Thethi. It is situated in the Albanian Alps and offers a spectacular view, with 3300 ha and the beautiful river (Thethi river) flowing through it. It is nearly 70km off-road drive. Accommodation in guesthouse where you will have the opportunity to meet with people of the area, get to know their traditions and lifestyle and try the delicious food.
Day 3 - Razma
After breakfast, we will set out to explore then village of Theth, get to know the local lifestyle, visit the Lock – In Tower, representing the safe heaven for people once targeted by blood feuds. From there we will take a scenic climb to reach a summit, where we would enjoy a breathtaking view. We will then leave Theth on 4x4 vehicles heading towards Boga Valley. After a lunch break in the local taverns, the tour resumes passing through mountains, forests. In the afternoon we will reach our hotel located in Razma park. Overnight and dinner in hotel.
Day 4 - Andrijevica
After breakfast, we will drive towards Kelmend Valley, a remote and steep destination. We will drive alongside a blue water river with trout. We will continue and climb eastward up the valley crossing remote and remote villages. We will stop in Lepushe, where we will embark on a two hours hike through the surrounding mountains. The trip will resume crossing into Montenegro, where we will make a short stop on a small town on the banks of Blue Lake. We will visit a small museum that describes the life of the residents from day to day. Overnight and dinner at hotel in Andrijevica.
Day 5 - Peja (Kosovo)
This morning we will head towards Kosovo, where we will visit the large agricultural compounds, the sources of the abundant black water of the DRINI river. During our lunch break we will have a chance to taste delicious trout-based dishes and chilled white wine. The trip continues through amazing paths, ascending spectacularly alongside rocks and stone tunnels to reach the summit of the mountain. At the summit, we will embark on a hike for two hours on to mountain lakes and sightings. From there we continue on the paved road to the hotel passing forests in endless green hues. At the end of a short road we will reach the favorite hotel. Overnight and dinner in hotel.
Day 6 - Valbona
Today, we will travel towards Decan, where we visit an Orthodox Christian monastery with spectacular murals that have been preserved for centuries. Afterwards continue towards Gjakova, where we enjoy fragrant coffee in the heart of the lively market and visit the famous mosque. The trip resumes crossing the border into Albania, heading towards the city of Bajram Curi , named after the national hero who fought for ethnic Albanians. In the city we will stop for a lunch break where we will taste delicious organic local food. Finally we will head towards Valbona Valley going through a winding beautiful road, driving alongside blue streams rich in trout fish.
Day 7 - Kruja
Kruja is Skanderbeg's town. Yes, Albania's national hero was born here, and although it was over 500 years ago, there's still a great deal of pride in the fact that he and his forces defended Kruja from the Ottomans until his death.
The most important building in the town is the Kruja castle, which is a national sanctum for the Albanian people. It contains the Skanderbeg museum, which is reminiscent of the war in this area. Further places next to the town are the tomb of Sari Saltiks and the national park Qafe Shtama. The small town has a large historical background.
